About Queerclimbtastic
Queerclimbtastic is an annual queer climbing event that takes place at the New River Gorge, bringing in about 130 people every year. Started in 2007, it has been a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and outdoor adventure. Join us for a weekend of climbing, community, and fun!
Our Three Pillars
Foster Safe Spaces
We believe in embracing everyone for how they identify. We do not stand for bigotry of any kind. We aim to create an environment where people feel supported and are comfortable.
Promote and create representation
We understand that marginalization is a multifaceted construct. We aim to do what wen can to show and promote representation in parts of our communities that are at higher disadvantage than others. We hope to highlight all so that all can be visible.
Uphold and maintain our climbing space
We encourage all climbers to practice Leave No Trace tactics and provide resources to help with those efforts. We encourage those to participate in trail maintantace and promote efforts to keep climbing for future generations
Mission Statement
We strive to make climbing a more inclusive and accessible space for all queer climbers by fostering safe and affirming environments, promoting representation for marginalized communities, and upholding the stewardship of our outdoor climbing areas. Through community, education, and advocacy, we empower climbers of all identities to find belonging both on and off the wall.
Cantrell Campground
The event is hosted at the Cantrell Campground at the New River Gorge in West Virginia. Join us at the breathtaking New River Gorge for an unforgettable climbing experience. Get ready to explore the stunning cliffs and scenic landscapes.
